How to Style a Moto Jacket and Boots

Over-the-Knee Boots: Chinese Laundry
Moto Jacket: (mine is Bar III) Similar here and here
Dress: (mine was purchased at a small boutique), Similar here and here (LOVE THIS)

A rainy day doesn't stop me from sharing one of my favorite looks for the fall. I have been living in these boots so far this fall. They are great if you are walking around all day because the heel isn't too high and they stay up above the knee (I also love the slouchy look to them which make them a little casual). I thought they looked adorable with this knee length dress that I purchased at a little boutique (similar here and here). I love that I can wear this dress to work, out for the day, or dressed up at night. Lastly, I threw on my favorite moto jacket that I purchased at Macy's last year (brand is Bar III), so I'm linking a couple similar jackets here and here.

Did everyone have a good weekend? Joey and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary with massages and a nice night out. These two years have went by SO fast! I wish time would slow down! We both have busy weeks ahead of us but are looking forward to halloween tomorrow!

There's only one thing more precious than our time and that's who we spend it with.

Early Holiday Shopping

This the first year that I have started my holiday shopping early! I have always been so determined to get it done by Thanksgiving but it has NEVER happened, so I am on a mission. This is the first year that I haven't been in school so I have more time on my hands! I actually set up a good system for myself this year- every time I heard a family member say they liked something, I wrote it down immediately in my phone and I feel more prepared with this trick, than ever before! I highly recommend it. I have posted a few of my favorite holiday items, but my FAVORITE item in this list are these amazing slingback pumps from Topshop (they are under $80!). I hope my hubby sees this post (hint, hint!). I am planning to do a post next month on some of my favorite etsy shops and will be sharing pictures and links to these items. I love to support small businesses.

Casual Fall Outfit Ideas

// Boots: Chinese Laundry (under $70!) //
// Tee: Gap (love this material) //
// Sweater: (old, similar here) //
// Purse: Louis Vuitton //

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today is me and my husband's 2nd wedding anniversary. We are officially celebrating our anniversary this weekend with massages and dinner in Pittsburgh, but today is also my moms birthday and we wanted to celebrate it today (I ate way too much chinese food and cake)! You can check out some of my favorite wedding pictures here (it was my first blog post!). I was reminiscing on that day two years ago and how nervous and excited I was! Everything was perfect and I just remember being happy all day until my cheeks hurt at the end of the night. We danced the night away and spent a week in Jamaica for our honeymoon. Such amazing memories and I can't wait to see what our next year holds for us!

We had a casual get together for my moms birthday tonight so I wanted to share a casual fall outfit idea with my favorite boots here. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned and I love that they go just at the knee- I feel like this adds a little something to the look. My sweater is from last year, so I am linking this and this (fav) one. Lastly, I am obsessed with this Tarte lip paint (I wear it constantly!).

Who else is loving these over the knee boots this fall?

Wearing Cold Shoulder Sweaters This Fall

// Sweater: Asos //
// Jeans: Similar here //
// Shoes: Louboutins (dupes here) //

My closet is getting more and more neutral and blush pink; I'm not sure how this happened, but I'm glad that it is! I'm writing this post while I watch the Sex and the City movie (a perfect Saturday night!). The older I get, the more I appreciate Carrie Bradshaw's amazing sense of style... she is fabulous in every way! It makes me want to pick up and move to NYC, but who am I kidding, the traffic just in Pittsburgh (when I lived there) was enough to drive me crazy. I love these Sex and the City girls and the bond they share. I am also so lucky to have some wonderful friends who I can always count on <3

So I have been loving the cold shoulder sweaters out this season and fell in love with this pink sweater from asos! It is so comfortable and could be worn with cute jeans or leggings; dressed up or dressed down. I paired them with my favorite Louboutins (my favorite luxury consignment shop EVER) (similar look here). You can shop the look below.

I can't seem to get enough of these colors lately! I have spent years wearing black (and probably always will) but my closet seems to be getting a little lighter and more neutral, which I am completely okay with! I think these items are chic, classy, and will be in style for years to come!

Denim Shirts and Loose Pants

Fall, here we are and I couldn't be more in love with all of the beautiful colors! I'm sharing a comfortable outfit on the blog today and I love that it can be dressed up or down- and it's affordable! I am loving denim shirts this year and this one is a little loose fitting which I love. I've worn it multiple ways such as this style, unbuttoned, or even just as a dress with boots. These pants are from last year, but here and here are similar (I even like them better!). They are so soft and I wear them around the house, with a plain tee and converse shoes, or dressed up with a cute boot. I've shared similar booties before, but I am loving these and these (both under $60). Lastly, I love this blanket scarf because it is so soft and goes with everything! I truly can't remember where I purchased it, so I am linking this similar one.

I have the day off tomorrow, well sort of… I don't work in the office on Wednesdays, rather I work from home, which I love! I might sneak in a massage tomorrow, as I make it a point to do something every Wednesday that I enjoy!

Staying Motivated With a Busy Schedule

Leggings: Express
Sweater: Gianni Bini (old), similar oversized sweater here
Shoes: Target (old), similar here

Meet my baby, Ava who is our beautiful 3 year old golden retriever. Ava is the light of our lives and is the sweetest dog I've ever had. When I first met Joey he insisted on getting a golden retriever! I love dogs and I have always had them growing up, but I was living in Pittsburgh while I was completing my doctoral program and he was living in Ohio... I hated to miss out on the rotten puppy stage. I also knew that golden's shed and I was worried I would be vacuuming constantly (which I do!). Despite the hesitations, we eventually got her and he kept her at his home until I completed school. Luckily, he would bring her to see me when he could and seeing her little face helped keep me sane through the busiest time of my life! I couldn't love her any more!

After completing my masters degree in mental health counseling and working for a couple years as a therapist, I decided to further my education and was accepted into Duquesne University's doctoral program. I remember feeling SO determined to follow this dream and I wasn't going to stop until it was finished! I knew the next 4 years of my life might be hectic, but I had no idea how challenging it was going to be to balance it all. I lived alone in a city which I didn't know a soul, worked two jobs, and remained a full-time student. I had a terrible break-up during the first year but before I knew it, the love of my life caught me completely off guard! I got married during my third year of school, bought a house, moved to my hometown and commuted to school for the last year. I wrote my dissertation for the last 1.5 years (which was about 350 pages), had to distance from family and friends to complete it, missed out on so many family functions, activities, and gatherings. I never thought it would end! However, despite all of the challenges it brought, I was BEYOND LUCKY to have my family, husband, and Ava who pushed me, supported me, and encouraged me very step of the way! I am so thankful for them and I am so relieved that it's over- 10.5 years of school is no joke! I would have to say my support system was my number one motivation to complete the program! I now get to empower, motivate, and encourage people to make changes in their life.
 In addition to life as a therapist, I would like to teach at a university in the future, but right now I am keeping busy with work, researching and publishing my work, and now this blog : )

What have been your biggest challenges and what kept you motivated?

Zaful Black and White Striped for Fall

// Shoes: Similar here //

// Jeans: Similar here //

// Lip: Colour Pop (lyin' king)

I've teamed up with Zaful to share this black and white striped dress that I absolutely adore! (I am FOREVER wearing black and white stripes)! Since it has started to get colder, I decided to wear this dress with jeans underneath, but I will definitely be wearing it in other warmer seasons as well without the jeans (I might even wear it as a bathing suit cover). I love the little belt that it comes with; I think it would look cute even as a scarf. I am also loving this layered bar necklace because you can wear it a few different ways (and it's under $2!). Check out Zaful's Instagram page for the cutest looks at reasonable prices!

Cashmere This Fall

// Sweater: J.Crew (similar here) // Faux Leather Pants: H&M // Shoes: Nine West (old) (this year's style) // Bag: Louis Vuitton Monogram Neverfull MM // Lip: Mac (in Please Me)

It's definitely getting colder here in Ohio so I brought out the Cashmere. I love cashmere because not only is it SO comfortable, it never goes out of style. I am obsessed with these faux leather pants because  they are thicker than leggings, but still just as comfortable (did I mention they are under $40!?).

We spent our Saturday at a charity event for our church. I went to a very small Catholic school until high school and unfortunately it was closed last year due to low enrollment. The church is still open and currently under construction so the event was to raise money to help with the funding. Today, I went to the gym and have been laying around watching Lifetime movies- who else does the same on Sundays?
